Dart maker Arachnid Inc. made headlines at last fall's AMOA Expo in Las Vegas not only by launching their newest game, a virtual shuffleboard attraction, but also by walking away with the AMOA's prestigious Innovator Award for this surprise debut.
Arachnid topper Sam Zammuto told RePlay the game called Knock Off had been in development for the last year including fairly extensive testing on traditional Midwestern tavern route. However, Arachnid had kept a firm lid on news of the piece, unveiling it to the trade for the very first time at AMOA.
We wanted to develop something that can help operators expand their leagues," said Sam. "Knock Off is designed specifically for competitive league play although casual players will also enjoy the game's compelling game action."
The Cabinet Is Part Shuffleboard, Part Videogame!
Players launch a real-life puck across an abbreviated shuffleboard-style playfield toward the back of the cabinet, where a sensor tracks its speed and trajectory and then projects that via a virtual puck onto the flat screen monitor.
Game features include built-in paperless league scoring, a player rating system, tournament charting, a molded and rugged cabinet, no-wax play-field, LCD color monitor and hot button intuitive game play. The unit measures five and one half feet in length versus over 20 feet for many traditional shuffleboard alleys.
